No summer holiday at MCFC
When the Barclays Premiership ends it's usually time for the players to pack their flip flops, sunglasses and sun tan lotion before jetting off to luxury destinations around the globe.
Not such joy for the intrepid back room staff of the football clubs themselves though. The summer breaks sees the stadium management team spring into action to get into that list of jobs to do that is just impossible in the middle of the world's busiest and most popular football season.
During the 2013 summer break, the operations team at Manchester City Football Club embarked upon a multi-million pound investment in new catering equipment, fan facilities and digital menu boards throughout the stadium concourse. All combining to put the Manchester City match day fan experience where it belongs... at the top of the league.
Cue the first team starters at Image Group. We were delighted to be asked to participate in the project and rebrand in excess of 40 food and drink kiosks over 4 separate stands and over three different levels. Works consisting of stylish printed counter fronts and ceiling high bulkhead details - all in full colour with overlaminated surfaces on durable 3mm dibond. Along with a full installation of brilliant white LED halo lighting under counter surfaces and within bespoke built timber soffits.
The club agreed a deal with Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Fan Fayre as a brand new catering partner. This meant we had an additional challenge to refurbish four premium grade Fan Fayre' concessions. These Jamie Oliver food and drink outlets received the platinum standard treatment with reclaimed english oak counter fronts, printed blackboard branding, crisp white ceramic tiling along with solid oak frames fitted around LED plasma menu screens. All carefully prepared in our 80,000 sq.ft workshop by our exhibition and joinery team prior to transport and installation.
The result is an impressive uplift in hospitality standards throughout the stadium corporate areas and the interior concourse spaces. Better menus, better food, better presentation, better service and best of all happy and not so hungry Manchester City fans.
Neil Cousins, Director and Co-Founder had this to say:
"The MCFC hospitality and kiosk project was an exciting challenge for us all at The Image Group. A packed five week programme with over a dozen separate contractors and literally hundreds of new faces all busily preparing the stadium for the new season. This job brought out the very best from our print, joinery and exhibition department along with our fully trained installation team. As City go from strength to strength, we're thrilled to be part of the story and to have had the opportunity to have made a small contribution to the fans enjoyment of the football club and their match day experience".
