Image Group design and build a two story exhibition stand to make STAUFF UK head and shoulders above the rest.
Situated near the M60 next to the Trafford Centre in Manchester, The Image Group have spent the last five years assembling a formidable exhibition team with a wealth of joinery steelwork and fabrication experience. Inevitably, our spectrum of trades and skills were put to the test when our valued client, STAUFF UK asked us to help them stand out from the crowd at the SPE Offshore Europe Conference and Exhibition Show 2015 in Aberdeen.
Maximum impact means maximum ambition. And so we decided to design and construct a two story exhibition stand to facilitate in show product displays and provide customer entertainment without any sense of the exhibition space feeling restricted. Plans were drawn up for a two story steel structure to house a bar and seating area on the first floor whilst the ground floor was used to house products and product demos.
The Image Group team took care of everything from 3D modelling and rendering for client approval, calculations and health and safety requirements for the show organiser, fabrication and steelwork, joinery and painting, right through to delivery, installation and de-rig all within a three month period.
Not surprisingly, all two story exhibition stands are erected against a strict set of regulations and health and safety procedures - all of which are monitored and checked carefully by the local authorities. This aspect of the project was certainly challenging but the final result was well worth the extra effort.
For Image Group, Account Manager Jess Cousins said:
"The idea for a double decker came about as STAUFF needed a place for sales talks to be held away from the busy stand. We wanted to create a really special VIP atmosphere on the second deck including a funky contemporary bar and luxurious seating area. Double deckers are the exception to the rule in the exhibition industry so it's always exciting to be in at the project design stage. We spent the majority of the planning stages designing and re-designing the steel calculations to pass all health and safety checks.
The build from start to finish was completed in house with great success. A full rehearsal of the steel build took place in our factory prior to the show with STAUFF coming in to see the structure and sign the stand off. This stage of the production was essential as the finishing touches and final changes were made including adding the amazing oversized oil clamp which was affixed to the downstairs pillar.
We wanted to keep a minimalist feel to the stand with white wash walls and tensioned PVC banner graphics which enabled seamless graphics without joins throughout. The whole stand was housed on a raised floor which was then dressed in custom printed digital lino. The raised floor allowed us to run all the electrics underneath and feed to each area from the store room.
We installed a floor to ceiling 10mm polycarbonate sheet that was rigged with one of STAUFF's operating systems so demos could be done showing both the operator and machinery. A live feed of this was fed to a 32inch touch screen TV on the outer wall of the stand to attract passers by.
This particular double decker was a real accomplishment for the exhibition team at The Image Group. On a personal note, I look forward to upcoming projects where we can incorporate a second floor to ensure our customers stand head and shoulders above the rest."
Iain Stansbie, Head of Marketing for Stauff UK added:
“I have personally worked with the Image Group for a number of years and introduced the team to the Stauff business. We attend a number of exhibitions throughout the year, but see the biennial event at the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre as our flagship exhibition. Therefore having occupied the same stand space for a number of years, we realised a revamp of our existing layout was not enough to elevate ourselves and become more noticeable in a show where the expectations to ‘wow’ are raised each time!
Working with Jess and the team transformed our vision of the 2 storey stand into the reality that was created. I always like to work closely with the companies that undertake this type of work for me and found the response to my requests very positive, with a solution always being made available.
We were thrilled with the results of the stand build, the attention it commanded and the many compliments we received during the show, many people gave us feed back that being invited onto the first floor as our guests gave them the feeling of being VIP’s ... Exactly the experience we were looking to offer!”
